Donation Option Update!

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 10:07 AM
Surprise
Hey kids!

A full entry about the Fourth of July (with pictures and recipes) is upcoming in a couple of hours. Until then, check out my husband's feats of magic: he is very proud of his Donation Thermometer, which he created partially from scratch.

Kev's Birthday Donation Option Thermometer.

I can't be happier that he's taken a vested interest in my birthday for maybe the first time ever; I am also super pleased that he referred to my arm concept as "a pop culture media candyland of glee." If anything describes me, isn't it that?

I also need to thank you guys for helping make this possible. I know thirty-four isn't one of the big ones to a lot of people, but it's been a sort of tough year for me, and this is making things a heck of a lot easier. So thanks!

Kev

Loving Kev's B-Dot. That's what I'm calling it from here on out. Your B-Dot. It's like fundraising, but it's FUN raising. I feel like I should be pledging per something, like a buck a Chuck (pic) or something. An online bake sale; there's a pic of you covered in cupcakes and for every dollar one cupcake is removed. The same thing goes for the Buck A Chuck pic. Pictures is fun.

You're adorable and sweet. Never change.

Surprising as it may be, I'm actually trying to avoid connotations of pimping Kevin out in order to raise funds. Miss Manners would never approve!

You, at least, have a sense of propriety. Kev, on the other hand, is totally shameless. It's OK, though, as long as Kev writes warm and sincere thank-you notes for each donation, in his own hand and on his own personal stationery, and doesn't use those hopelessly vulgar preprinted ones with their canned sentiments.

I'm going to make my personal stationary from preprinted stationary!

As Miss Manners would say, everyone needs a stationery wardrobe, i.e., different stationery for different occasions. You couldn't, for example, use the same stationery for a "sorry your pet died" note as you would for a "thank you for contributing to my tattoo" note.

And it's stationEry, not stationAry, sheesh!

Bros before hos. Unless it's Ken Jennings:

One of his best.

Simple solution, bros that are the hos. Bro-hos. Ho-bros? Nah, bro-hos.

Is it a MEAT thermometer or a CANDY thermometer? I hope you realize, I had the same idea as Shawn did for your fundraising graphic!
